The infamous wiener dog or the dachshund (aka doxie) is a breed of dog found all over the world as it is one of the most popular breeds according to the AKC. A very common variant of the dachshund as seen in the media, is the smooth coat, but there are longhaired and wired-haired variants as well. There are two sizes that a dachshund can be: standard (16-32 pounds) and miniature (>11 pounds). They are in the hound group of dogs due to their good hunting skills.
